Community General Hospital Ambulatory57 viewsAs part of a $67 million refinance and reconstruction project, Community General Hospital developed a plan for leadership into the 21st century.
Their intent was to upgrade the existing services, expand the existing hospital-based RHCF and increase ambulatory care services with construction of a new Ambulatory Services Building connected to an outpatient mall on the first floor of the Hospital. The project began in 1992 with preliminary master planning of the entire 295,000 square foot facility to best achieve the intent and direction of the Hospital's strategic plan.
Our analysis lead to the submission and successful approval of the Certificate of Need application. The project team worked closely with the Hospital, Department Heads, New York State Department of Health, Consultants and Construction Manager. The program included renovations to the Emergency Department, Clinical Laboratory, Ambulatory Surgery, Physical Therapy, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Inpatient Psychiatric and ancillary departments; reconstruction of the entire third floor to create a new 60-bed RHCF consisting of two 30-bed neighborhoods with a 5,000 square foot addition; and the construction of a new 36,000 square foot Ambulatory Services Building.

Floor Plan66 viewsThe concept of an amphitheater was developed to open the patient’s view (during treatment) to the outside. The treatment area was divided into three 10-patient clusters to enhance a team care management philosophy. These clusters also allow a large treatment area to feel more homelike, with greater visibility and serviceability.
A three-loop dialysis system was designed to remove the need for individual bottle distribution.
